XRPL EVM Sidechain Launches on Mainnet Bringing Ethereum Compatibility and XRP Gas Fees

The XRPL EVM Sidechain has officially launched on mainnet. This significant development introduces Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility to the XRP Ledger ecosystem.

The sidechain enables developers to leverage familiar Ethereum tools, including Solidity programming language, MetaMask wallets, and Hardhat development environment, directly within the XRPL framework.

Distinctively, XRP functions as the primary gas token for transactions on the sidechain. This approach maintains ecosystem familiarity while offering faster block times and increased throughput capabilities, reportedly reaching up to 1,000 transactions per second (TPS).

Integration with Axelar’s cross-chain protocol stands as a key feature. This connectivity facilitates asset transfers between the XRPL EVM Sidechain and over 80 other blockchains, enhancing overall interoperability.

The ecosystem already hosts a developing DeFi landscape, featuring platforms like Strobe and Securd. Developer tools such as Blockscout and Goldsky are also supported, aiming to increase operational efficiency.

This launch positions the XRPL ecosystem competitively within the multichain environment. It combines the established developer advantage of Ethereum compatibility with the core strengths of the XRP Ledger: speed, scalability, and inherent compliance features.
