Vitalik Buterin Reclaims Billionaire Status as Ethereum Surges Beyond $4,000

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has re-entered the billionaire ranks following a significant price surge in the cryptocurrency market, driven by institutional demand and Spot ETF enthusiasm.

Ether’s price rose 6.38% to reach $4,332, marking its highest valuation since December 2024. This rally increased the market value of Buterin’s publicly acknowledged crypto holdings—primarily 240,042 ETH—to approximately $1.04 billion.

Market analysts attribute Ethereum’s upward momentum to robust investor sentiment, widespread market demand, and substantial capital inflows into U.S.-based Spot ETFs. The bullish trend underscores growing institutional confidence in Ethereum’s ecosystem.

Buterin originally achieved billionaire status in May 2021 at age 27 when his larger ETH holdings of roughly 333,500 coins were valued at $1.029 billion during a previous market peak.

While celebrating the milestone, analysts caution that Ethereum’s approach toward key technical resistance levels may trigger short-term profit-taking behavior among traders.
