Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and researcher Toni Wahrstätter have formally introduced Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 7983.
This proposal aims to implement a hard cap of 16.77 million gas for any individual transaction processed on the Ethereum network.
A primary motivation behind EIP-7983 is to bolster network security by mitigating the risk of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks that can exploit excessively complex transactions.
Furthermore, the proposal supports enhanced efficiency for emerging technologies within the Ethereum ecosystem, specifically benefiting the Zero-Knowledge Virtual Machine (zkVM). This contributes to improved privacy and computational capabilities.
By refining transaction gas usage parameters, EIP-7983 seeks to optimize overall network transaction throughput while simultaneously reinforcing Ethereum’s long-term scalability.
