Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bank of Thailand have announced a collaborative initiative to establish a regulatory sandbox for digital asset exchanges.
The program will permit foreign visitors to convert Bitcoin and select digital assets into Thai Baht through approved platforms operating within the controlled testing environment.
This regulatory experiment aims to assess compliance frameworks while supporting digital innovation in tourism-related financial services.
Officials emphasized the sandbox approach allows comprehensive risk management of cryptocurrency conversions tied to tourist expenditure activities.
