Solana Developers Propose 66% Block Limit Increase to Boost Network Capacity

Solana core developers have submitted a proposal to substantially increase the network’s block limit by 66%, aiming to raise the computational unit ceiling to 100 million per block. This technical upgrade targets enhanced throughput and optimized network capacity to accommodate escalating transaction demands.

The initiative directly responds to surging decentralized application activity across the Solana ecosystem, which has intensified competition for block space. By expanding computational resources available per block, developers anticipate improved transaction processing efficiency and reduced congestion for end-users.

While maintaining consensus mechanisms unchanged, this adjustment would represent one of Solana’s most significant scalability enhancements in recent months. Ecosystem participants are now evaluating the proposal’s technical specifications and potential implications for validator operations and transaction costs ahead of implementation.
