SharpLink Gaming Appoints BlackRock Vet Joseph Chalom as Co-CEO to Drive Ethereum Strategy

Former BlackRock executive Joseph Chalom has been named co-CEO of SharpLink Gaming, signaling the company’s strategic pivot towards active participation within the Ethereum ecosystem. Chalom brings over two decades of institutional finance expertise to the role, notably including his leadership in launching BlackRock’s $10 billion iShares Ethereum Trust and forging key partnerships with industry giants like CoinBase and BNY Mellon.

Chalom will oversee SharpLink’s global strategy and staking operations, marking the company’s transition from a passive holder of Ethereum to an active contributor to its decentralized infrastructure. This shift occurs alongside a broader trend of corporate accumulation; BitMine Immersion Technologies recently announced a $2 billion ETH acquisition. Collectively, entities like SharpLink and BitMine wield significant influence, estimated to control approximately 73% of corporate sway over Ethereum.

Chalom’s extensive background in financial markets, tokenization, and AI analytics equips him to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and propel innovation in decentralized finance (DeFi), positioning SharpLink to capitalize on the maturing crypto financial infrastructure. His leadership is expected to deepen SharpLink’s integration into Ethereum, potentially accelerating institutional capital inflows, influencing decentralization dynamics, and shaping regulatory engagement with the network.
