Ripple CTO Proposes Server Hub Upgrade to Bolster XRP Ledger Network Stability

Ripple Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz has put forth a proposal to establish a high-performance server hub specifically designed to enhance the reliability and performance of the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

The initiative addresses challenges identified within the network’s stability, which partially stems from reliance on a limited number of existing hubs. Schwartz’s proposal aims to gather critical data to better understand and mitigate potential network risks.

The proposed hub will serve as a dedicated resource for Unique Node List (UNL) validators and XRPL applications, featuring significant hardware capabilities. It will be equipped with an AMD 9950X CPU, 256GB of RAM, high-speed NVMe SSDs, and a robust 10GB unmetered network connection. The server is slated to run Ubuntu LTE and will be hosted in a New York data center.

This development comes amidst substantial growth for the XRP Ledger. The network processed 70 million transactions last month, bringing its total to 3.83 billion, with daily transaction volumes averaging 1.8 million – placing it among the highest throughput blockchains.

Additionally, adoption of the RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger is accelerating rapidly. Daily RLUSD transactions have surged in the past month, jumping from around 5,000 per day to over 12,000.
