Polygon co-founder Jordi Baylina has unveiled ZisK, a new open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine project targeting enhanced blockchain scalability and developer flexibility. Baylina will maintain an advisory role at Polygon while spearheading the initiative.
ZisK employs modular zkEVM architecture and supports multiple programming languages like Rust, aiming to resolve Ethereum’s persistent challenges with high gas fees and limited transaction throughput. The project prioritizes interoperability and scalability to optimize decentralized application efficiency.
Baylina will lead ZisK’s development with a core team of seven engineers. Simultaneously, Sandeep Nailwal has assumed the CEO position at the Polygon Foundation, driving the organization’s strategic focus toward the AggLayer interoperability protocol. This protocol seeks to unify blockchain networks and improve cross-chain liquidity.
The open-source framework of ZisK fosters community collaboration and innovation, accelerating advancements in zero-knowledge cryptography and decentralized applications. This launch complements Polygon’s broader vision for interconnected blockchain ecosystems.
