Pipe Network has announced securing $10 million in funding dedicated to advancing its decentralized content delivery network (dCDN) infrastructure built on the Solana blockchain. The capital infusion aims to enhance Solana’s capabilities for distributing web content.
Despite securing significant funding, the development and launch timeline for Pipe Network’s key component, Firestarter Storage, remains officially unconfirmed as of mid-2025. This uncertainty impacts strategic planning for ecosystem partners and potential users anticipating the solution.
The initiative takes inspiration from established decentralized storage models like Filecoin. It also follows similar efforts within the Solana ecosystem, such as TapDrive, which demonstrated success in reducing storage costs for Solana data.
Chief Executive Officer David Rhodus has outlined the project’s incentive structure, noting that tokens are emitted specifically when useful work is performed. This indicates a performance-based model designed to reward network participants contributing resources and bandwidth to the decentralized CDN.
