Metaplanet has increased its Bitcoin holdings with the acquisition of 463 BTC at an average price of $101,422 per coin, representing a $54 million addition to its treasury reserves. This brings the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 3,782 BTC currently valued at approximately $1.96 billion.
With this latest purchase, Metaplanet has become the sixth-largest institutional holder of Bitcoin globally. The investment reflects the company’s escalating commitment to cryptocurrency as a strategic treasury asset.
To advance its Bitcoin accumulation strategy, Metaplanet plans to issue $3.6 billion in perpetual preferred shares. These funds will support its ambitious target of holding 100,000 BTC by 2027.
CEO Simon Gerovich emphasized the long-term shareholder value focus, stating: ‘Our disciplined Bitcoin acquisition strategy positions Metaplanet to maximize value as we navigate global economic uncertainties, viewing Bitcoin as a foundational treasury reserve.’
