Japanese financial services company Metaplanet Inc. has significantly bolstered its Bitcoin treasury, acquiring an additional 518 BTC in a recent purchase valued at approximately $61.4 million.
This strategic acquisition elevates Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings to 18,113 BTC. Based on current valuations, the company’s cumulative Bitcoin position is now worth around $1.85 billion.
The move is driven by CEO Simon Gerovich, a key figure championing Metaplanet’s Bitcoin strategy. The acquisition underscores the firm’s commitment to holding Bitcoin as a core long-term reserve asset, reflecting its firm conviction in the cryptocurrency’s enduring value proposition.
By consistently adding to its Bitcoin reserves, Metaplanet reinforces its long-term investment strategy grounded in the asset’s scarcity and potential as a hedge. The substantial increase in holdings could positively influence investor perception of the company’s confidence in Bitcoin’s future trajectory.
