Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings to 15,555 BTC, Targets 30,000 by Fiscal Year End

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet Inc. has significantly increased its Bitcoin reserves, acquiring an additional 2,205 BTC at an average price of $108,237 per Bitcoin. This strategic purchase brings the company’s total holdings to 15,555 BTC, currently valued at approximately $1.7 billion.

The acquisition advances Metaplanet’s publicly stated goal of accumulating 30,000 BTC by the conclusion of fiscal year 2025. With this expanded treasury, the firm now ranks among the top five corporate Bitcoin holders globally.

Metaplanet’s aggressive accumulation strategy unfolds amid an evolving regulatory landscape in Japan. The nation’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) has not yet established specific regulations governing corporate cryptocurrency holdings, creating a fluid environment for institutional adoption.

The firm’s Bitcoin treasury approach mirrors strategies employed by other corporate entities like MicroStrategy, highlighting a growing trend of institutional adoption. Metaplanet’s systematic purchases underscore its commitment to positioning Bitcoin as a long-term reserve asset on corporate balance sheets.
