Metaplanet Announces $3.73B Bitcoin Acquisition Plan via Stock Offering

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has revealed plans to raise 555 billion yen ($3.73 billion) through a stock offering to acquire 210,000 Bitcoin by 2027. The move centralizes Bitcoin accumulation as the core objective of the company’s corporate treasury ‘Bitcoin Strategy’ initiative.

The capital raise will involve issuing Bitcoin-backed preferred shares offering dividends of up to 6% annually. Dividend payments will be directly linked to Bitcoin’s market performance, creating a novel financial instrument for investors seeking cryptocurrency exposure through traditional equity structures.

This expansion occurs amid growing corporate crypto treasury allocations, which have now surpassed $100 billion globally. Bitcoin-focused corporate holdings dominate this trend, accounting for $93 billion of the total investments. Market analysts project Bitcoin could exceed $132,000 by year-end due to global money supply expansion, with significant price catalysts anticipated around September coinciding with U.S. Congressional sessions.
