Matador Technologies Targets 6,000 Bitcoin Acquisition by 2027 to Capture 1% of Total Supply

Matador Technologies has unveiled an ambitious strategy to acquire 6,000 Bitcoin (BTC) by 2027, equivalent to 1% of Bitcoin’s total circulating supply. The plan includes an interim target of accumulating 1,000 BTC by 2026 through a $900 million CAD financing initiative filed via shelf prospectus.

To support this aggressive Bitcoin accumulation, Matador secured regulatory approval to transform into a hybrid ‘technology/investment issuer.’ This model combines blockchain development operations with strategic Bitcoin treasury growth, diverging from conventional corporate structures.

The company employs a ‘compounding flywheel’ strategy integrating four components: primary Bitcoin accumulation, volatility-driven trading opportunities, blockchain real-world applications, and cryptocurrency partnerships. This approach aims to systematically increase Bitcoin reserves while maintaining operational agility.

Matador enters a market where corporate Bitcoin treasuries already control approximately 6% of BTC’s circulating supply, with industry leaders like MicroStrategy pioneering this trend. Despite a 4.65% stock dip following the announcement, Matador shares have delivered nearly 37% gains year-to-date amid growing institutional crypto adoption.
