Former BlackRock ETF Architect Joins SharpLink as Co-CEO to Drive Ethereum Treasury Strategy

Joseph Chalom, a key figure behind BlackRock’s successful Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) launches, has been appointed co-CEO of Nasdaq-listed technology company SharpLink Gaming.

SharpLink Gaming holds a substantial treasury exceeding 360,000 Ethereum (ETH), valued at approximately $1.3 billion. The company recently acquired an additional 80,000 ETH within a single week and signals intentions for further accumulation.

In his new role, Chalom will spearhead the company’s strategy for its ETH reserves. This strategy focuses on generating Ethereum-native yield through mechanisms like staking and restaking, offered via a regulated, publicly traded equity vehicle.

SharpLink’s stock experienced volatility coinciding with broader market trends, declining over 6% to $21.89 and registering a 31% drop over five days.

Joseph Lubin, Chairman of SharpLink Gaming and CEO of ConsenSys, characterized Chalom’s appointment as strong validation of the company’s Ethereum treasury approach and its focus on institutional adoption pathways.
