Eigenlayer has unveiled a multichain verification upgrade enabling decentralized services operating on layer-2 networks to inherit Ethereum’s robust security.
This development aims to reconcile network scalability advantages with uncompromising protection standards, allowing applications to leverage faster and more cost-effective layer-2 blockchains without sacrificing security. The system achieves this by uniformly synchronizing essential validator information and stake weights, while enforcing consistent security measures across all supported chains.
An initial deployment of this capability is currently operational on the Base Sepolia Testnet. Eigenlayer has outlined plans to expand this functionality to mainnet environments within the third quarter of 2025.
The upgrade is positioned to accelerate decentralized application development considerably by providing developers with a secure environment on scalable infrastructure. It also aims to significantly broaden the practical scope and diversity of services possible within decentralized infrastructure ecosystems.
