Dormant Ethereum Wallets Transfer $2.9M After Decade-Long Inactivity

Two historic Ethereum wallets reactivated after approximately 3,630 days of dormancy, moving 1,140 ETH valued at $2.9 million. The wallets, identified as ‘0x27’ and ‘0x7f,’ had remained inactive since Ethereum’s early stages in 2015.

This transaction highlights Ethereum’s extraordinary value appreciation, with ETH surging over 89,000% from cents to above $2,500 per token since the wallets’ last activity. The event mirrors similar Bitcoin reactivations, including a recent $40 million transfer of Satoshi-era coins.

Market analysts speculate the movements could indicate whale portfolio rebalancing, responses to shifting transaction costs, or strategic positioning amid Ethereum’s expanding DeFi and NFT ecosystems. Such reactivations often draw attention to long-term holder behavior during significant network upgrades and broader crypto market trends.
