Polygon Co-Founder Nailwal Appointed Foundation CEO to Drive AggLayer Scaling and Governance

Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Polygon Foundation. This strategic move aims to accelerate the development of the AggLayer interoperability protocol and enhance governance efficiency within the organization.

Nailwal’s appointment is designed to streamline decision-making processes that were previously challenged by decentralized governance structures. The goal is to significantly improve operational agility, allowing the foundation to respond faster to market demands and technological advancements.

A primary focus under Nailwal’s leadership will be the advancement of AggLayer, Polygon’s flagship interoperability solution. The foundation has prioritized its development, targeting the release of AggLayer version 0.3 by the end of the year.

This leadership change also addresses concerns within the Ethereum community regarding scalability and Layer 2 solutions. Nailwal will spearhead initiatives like the AggLayer Breakout Program, which aims to enhance liquidity and yield opportunities across connected chains.

To concentrate resources effectively, the foundation plans to prune non-core projects. This strategic refocusing will direct efforts towards scalable, high-impact initiatives that align directly with the vision for AggLayer.

Beyond traditional decentralized finance (DeFi), Polygon aims to leverage AggLayer to integrate digital payments and real-world assets (RWAs), diversifying its ecosystem and expanding its practical use cases.
