Coinbase International Exchange has partnered with Copper’s ClearLoop network to enable near real-time off-exchange USDC settlements for institutional cryptocurrency trading. The integration allows assets to remain in segregated accounts until transactions are confirmed, reducing counterparty risk while accelerating settlement speeds.
The solution employs multiparty computation (MPC) technology to enhance security and operational efficiency, supporting Coinbase’s mission to strengthen global crypto derivatives infrastructure. ClearLoop’s established network includes prominent exchanges like Deribit, Kraken MTF, OKX, and Bitfinex, broadening Coinbase’s institutional connectivity.
Growing institutional adoption is evident in a recent Coinbase-commissioned survey by EY-Parthenon, which shows 83% of institutional investors plan increased crypto allocations this year, with XRP and Solana among preferred assets. Concurrently, Fireblocks reports 90% of institutions are actively implementing crypto payment solutions.
