Ethereum core developers Vitalik Buterin and Toni Wahrstätter have introduced Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 7983.
The proposal suggests implementing a standardized transaction gas limit of 16.77 million across all Ethereum transactions.
Its primary goal is to fortify the network against Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks and minimize potential block verification delays.
EIP-7983 also aims to significantly enhance the computational efficiency of zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM) operations.
Furthermore, the standardized limit is seen as crucial for facilitating effective parallel transaction execution.
These proposed changes are designed to ultimately improve the scalability and overall performance of the Ethereum network.
The EIP is currently in the early discussion phase within the Ethereum developer community.
