BlackRock Expands Ethereum Holdings to $8.9 Billion as ETF Inflows Outpace Bitcoin

BlackRock has substantially increased its Ethereum exposure with the acquisition of 307,461 ETH tokens valued at approximately $1.11 billion over a two-day period. This brings the asset manager’s cumulative Ethereum holdings to 2.46 million ETH worth $8.9 billion, signaling robust institutional confidence in the cryptocurrency.

The iShares Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) recorded its strongest weekly performance to date with $546.7 million in inflows, surpassing Bitcoin ETF inflows by $50 million. This substantial capital movement underscores shifting institutional preferences toward Ethereum-based investment vehicles.

Ethereum’s market price surged to $3,624 amid the developments, reflecting a 46% monthly gain driven by escalating institutional interest and anticipated staking rewards. The momentum coincides with Nasdaq’s proposal to U.S. regulators seeking authorization for staking capabilities within Ethereum ETFs—a move that could enhance yield potential for investors if approved.

Industry analysts suggest Ethereum’s technological upgrades, staking utility, and broadening institutional adoption are positioning the asset as a strategic component within diversified investment portfolios.
