Bitcoin Market Share Declines 4.8% Amid Altcoin Surge as Crypto Capitalization Expands

Bitcoin’s dominance in the cryptocurrency market has significantly decreased as investors increasingly allocate capital to alternative digital assets, despite continued growth across the broader sector.

Data shows Bitcoin’s market share (BTC.D) declined by 4.8% over the past week, settling at 61.67%. This contraction occurred simultaneously with a 4.43% expansion in the overall cryptocurrency market capitalization, highlighting shifting investor preferences toward non-Bitcoin assets.

The market segment excluding Bitcoin (TOTAL 2) surged substantially by 13.19%, significantly outpacing total market growth. Furthermore, the market cap excluding both Bitcoin and Ethereum (TOTAL 3) also demonstrated notable gains.

This market rotation reflects heightened interest in alternative cryptocurrencies as traders seek diversified exposure and potential opportunities beyond the two largest digital assets. The trend suggests confidence in altcoins is rising amid expanding capital inflows into the broader crypto ecosystem.

Analysts observe that while Bitcoin maintains its position as the largest cryptocurrency, reduced dominance signals evolving market dynamics with altcoins capturing increasing investor attention and market share.
