The Bitcoin community is mobilizing to restore a vandalized statue of Satoshi Nakamoto in Lugano, Switzerland. The monument, which symbolizes Bitcoin’s origins and legacy, was recently damaged and thrown into Lake Ceresio.
Samson Mow, CEO of blockchain technology firm JAN3, initiated a Change.org petition to restore the statue. To incentivize participation, Mow is offering a Dolphin Card as a token of appreciation for signatories supporting the restoration initiative.
The petition has collected 775 signatures to date, approaching its target goal of 1,000. The statue commemorates Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator and represents a significant cultural landmark for the cryptocurrency community.
Restoration efforts underscore the community’s determination to preserve physical symbols of Bitcoin’s heritage amidst real-world adoption.
