Binance Alerts Users to Surge in Impersonation Scams Targeting Crypto Accounts

Binance has issued a critical alert regarding a significant increase in impersonation scams targeting cryptocurrency holders globally. Fraudsters are posing as Binance support representatives across social media platforms, employing deceptive QR codes and fake verification requests to steal users’ funds.

Scammers primarily operate on messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram, tricking victims into compromising their account security through seemingly legitimate assistance requests. These coordinated attacks aim to bypass authentication measures and drain digital wallets.

All cryptocurrencies available on Binance, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, remain vulnerable to these sophisticated impersonation schemes. The exchange emphasizes that legitimate support staff never initiate contact requesting sensitive information, verification codes, or QR-code scanning via unofficial channels.

Binance strongly advises users to exclusively verify communications through its official website and app while avoiding unsolicited messages. Sharing login credentials, 2FA codes, or scanning QR codes from unverified sources should be strictly avoided.

Collaborating with international regulators including Australian authorities, Binance is intensifying efforts to identify and disrupt these criminal networks through enhanced security protocols and coordinated investigations.
